Watching TV of children is a problem in education?

When we mention TV, many people are proud of it which was one of the great inventions of man in the 20^th century. It has helped the life of man more comfortable and happier. However, in the writing “Kill Your Television” of Bill Duesing, he wrote: “One of the main problems in education is that our children watch too much TV”. I didn’t agree with this statement. Yes, we cannot negate the negative sides of TV affecting our life, but if he says our children watch too much TV and this is one of the main problems in education is not reasonable. In this writing I will give you two reasons to show that watching too much TV of our children is not one of the main problems in education.

First, we should not blame that one of the main problems in education is watching too much TV of our children. Nowadays, education becomes a high concern of many people because we want our young generation to have a good education and future. However, in recent years, there have been many problems which have happened from education system to education program and from teachers to students, so we can see education became weaker. We focus so much on quantity that we forget quality is just important. Instead we try to help children develop not only knowledge but also personality; we just focus on how to get a good grades or good certificate. So, instead of blame children for watching too much TV, we should look back what we are teaching or helping for children in education.

Next, if we take your time to observe the life of children today, we can see how they are leading their life. They are too busy with their work. Not only urban areas, but rural areas also children have no more beautiful, unforgettable memories in childhood. Nowadays, their life has too much burdens and difficulties. In rural area, there are many children who are living in poverty. They have to work a lot to earn a living. They not only go to school, but every day they also have to go to the rice field, river, lake, forest and even go to the sea to help their family. In urban area, although they don’t go to work, they have to study many things. Some parents want their children to be better than others, so they force their children to learn many things, especially English. They have to study the whole day. They are always willing to go to school, go to centers, or private teaching places. They become victims of society which runs after  material. Therefore, I believe that they will have no much time to watch TV. This life is too busy, so they have to run after the circle of this life.

I remember when I was a little child, my family had a white and black TV, my dad only allowed me to watch TV after finishing homework. If I wanted to have more time watching TV, I had to make them happy by studying and working hard. Indeed, I was very happy and had wonderful moments when I watched TV.  I learned many things from TV. It not only helped me relax, but it also gave me knowledge about life, the world, especially it brought a childhood world to me, cartoon movies. Therefore, we should be more concerned about the way which we are educating children in school than blame for actions of children.
