Children and Freedom

Nowadays, some people believe that children have too much freedom. Others believe that children are protected too much by their parents. In my opinion, I agree with the statement that children are given too much freedom by their parents. Therefore, in this writing, I will show you how children have too much freedom today.

First, we are living in a modern world and children are always high concern of many people because we want our young generation to have a good education and a bright future. Therefore, many parents believe that when they give their children more independence, their children will have more chances to develop inner abilities and to be mature in their life. For example, nowadays, many parents give their children the right to study subjects which they are interested in. It doesn’t mean that they don’t care about their studying and their children’s life, but they want their children to take responsibility of what they do in their own life.

Secondly, clearly although parents always want their children to have a good job and earn a lot of money, they still respect their children and give them right to choose the field which they want to work. Perhaps, that work will not give their children a lot of money, even they have to work far away from home or in the difficult condition, but they are willing to let their children do what they love and live with their passion. They really don’t want to see their children living in a hard life, but they respect their personal life with a hope that their children will have a happy life.

Thirdly - not last, today we will not be strange with the term “LGBT” – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. I believe that all parents will extremely suffer if they know their children belong to “LGBT” and how we can express the suffering, difficulties and challenges which they have to cope in their life. However, Cao Minh Nguyệt who has children – a girl and a boy, both transgendered people, was very suffering and many times she wanted to commit suicide because of shame. Finally, she still accepted to love and take care of her children with all her love, though they are different from other children, so she became “Mother of year” in 2015. Clearly, she had to overcome many prejudices to become a wonderful mother in the eyes of her children.

Because of love, parents are willing to give their children everything. They really give their children too much freedom today with a hope that their children will have a happy life. They also are willing to accept their sufferings and prejudices to be beside their children in this life.  Therefore, I believe that nowadays children have too much freedom to do what they like. Moreover, parents not only give them freedom, but they also give them love and belief.
